Symposium on Dutch-Baltic relations
Organised by the National History Museum of Latvia and the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Riga on April 23-25, 2008, this syposium concerns Dutch-Baltic relations in historical perspective. It focuses on maritime contacts, art and architecture, maritime archaeology, religion, trade and commerce, painting, politics and diplomacy and literature. -
UNESCO Memory of the World: Baltic Sea Meeting
Website documenting the Polish initiative to involve UNESCO's Memory of the World programme to foster the international co-operation of Baltic Sea countries in the areas of preservation of, and access to, common documentary heritage. -
Baltic Sea Heritage Co-operation
The Baltic Sea Heritage Co-operation aims at finding and carrying out possible actions for safeguarding and developing the common cultural heritage in the Baltic Sea region, such as historic buildings and towns, coastal culture, and maritime and under-water heritage. -

The Baltic Development Forum has been established in the light of a perceived need for a platform for decision makers to discuss strategies for the development of the Baltic Sea region. The Forum gathers not only politicians, but also business, academia and media.

Øresundsfolk (the Sound People)
Website (in Danish and Swedish) set up by archives, libraries, universities and museums in the Sound (Øresund) region. It focuses on people crossing the Sound over the centuries and the region's cultural history. -
Mare Balticum
Organised by the National Museum of Denmark. Focusing on myths, history, fortifications and art around the Baltic Sea between 1000 AD and the present. -
The Dutch Baltic Trade 1600-1850
Set up by the Dutch National Library (www.kb.nl). On show are various objects, maps and archival records. Also background information on trade, cultural contacts, wars, ships and sailors.

Contact Area Mare Balticum: Foreignness and Integration in the Baltic Region
Graduate programme of the University of Greifswald combining various disciplines to research communication, the position of foreigners, integration and mutual influencing in the Baltic Sea region in the past and the present, Website in German with some sections in English. -
Hanse Research Centre
Part of Groningen University, this institute studies the Hanseatic period, serves as a documentation centre of North Sea-Baltic Sea relations, aims at improving the accessibility of relevant archival materials, organises workshops and symposiums, and supports all kinds of research and other related activities. -
Network of Towns and Urbanization in the Baltic Area
Website focusing on historical information systems and the analysis of demography, economy and building culture in the 17th and 18th centuries. Set up by the Universities of Rostock and Wismar. In German and English. -
Dutch-Russian Archival Centre (NRAC)
The NRAC (Groningen, the Netherlands) carries out the "Neerlandica-project", which aims at the description of archives in Russia concerning Dutch-Russian historical relations. Descriptions are available in a database and in books. The website is in Russian and Dutch. -
Institute for North and East European Studies (INOS)
The INOS (Groningen, the Netherlands) is an international cooperation board for scientific research in which scholars from different disciplines study history, culture and mentality of Northern and Eastern Europe and historical relations between those regions and the Netherlands. -
The Dynamics of Economic Culture in the Northsea and Baltic Region c. 1200-1700
This international research programme for post-graduates and post-doc researchers is a joint venture of Groningen University (Netherlands), the University of Southern Denmark (Esbjerg) and Södertöns Högskola (BEEGS) in Sweden. -
