Record creator / provenance
The Town Council was responsible for the activities of the Harbour Tax Office, which collected harbour taxes from ships arriving, departing and loading cargo. Sailors and merchants often brought fiscal decisions of the Harbour Tax Office for the Town Council or the Polish King. The Town Council and the main Mayor of the town were also responsible for maintaining the coastal law. According to the Polish coastal law, the King was the owner of the cargo from shipwrecks.
